AccessGrid 2.3 toolkit downloads for Slackware 10.0 are available below.

These downloads are not suitable for Slackware 10.1 which uses a later version of python (see AG2.3 for Slackware 10.1)

Method (Slackware 10) 

It is assumed the kernel has been recompiled with multicast support (CONFIG_IP_MULTICAST=y). This is the default in Slackware 10 (the platform recommended here).

Download the appropriate installation bundle and prerequisites listed above.

As root,
- install the prerequisite packages (if not previously installed):
installpkg wxPythonGTK2-py2.3-2.4.2.4-i386-2.tgz
installpkg xawtv-3.93-i486-1.tgz
installpkg wxMozilla-0.5.3-i486-1.tgz
- unpack the installation bundle e.g.
tar zxvf AccessGrid-2.3-2.tar.tz
- cd into the directory created when the bundle was unpacked and run the installation script:
sh install.sh

As normal user,
- run the VenueClient (available in the main "Applications->Access Grid" menu)

  • "Store Configuration" (in VenueClient's NodeManagement) doesn't work the first time VenueClient is run. Workaround is to run VenueClient a second time, reconfigure your node with the NodeManagement widget, then do the "Store Configuration". Bugzilla reference...
  • This release for Slackware is patched so that ALSA audio is used by rat.

Current issues:
  • This installation bundle requires a new wxPythonGTK release (2.5.1.5) available above. Please update this if you have a previous version installed e.g.
            upgradepkg --install-new --reinstall wxPythonGTK-py2.3-2.5.1.5-i386-1.tgz
  • Top level menus still need some work
  • Tested with Slackware 10.0 (both 2.4.26 & 2.6.7 kernels), but should work with Slackware 9.1 too
