The "original" video4linux grabber for vic was based on the bttv frame
grabber. That grabber assumes the video device will provide frames encoded
with a YUV422 palette. The Logitech Quickcam Pro provides only a YUV420 palette
and is therefore not generally compatible with all versions of vic. Some versions of vic which are known to already support the YUV420 palette are
The UCL vic is the basis for the Linux-only access grid implementation distributed from Sydney Vislab through APAG,
so this patch is recommended if you want to use a Logitech Quickcam Pro with
one of these installations. Alternatively, install or upgrade a prebuilt
Slackware vic package.
